    [舉例]Not all the answers are right.

    5>If only they could find a way to get to the room.

    if only...

    [用法]1.表示愿望,意為 要是...就好了 .句中常用虛擬語氣形式.用一般過去時表示對現(xiàn)在的愿望;

    用過去完成時或could have done表示對過去的愿望;用過去將來時表示對將來的愿望.

    2.引導條件狀語從句,意為 只要

    [舉例]If only you had worked with great care.

    If only it clears up,we ll go.

    6>He was just about to say sth when Peter turned around.

    be about to do...when...

    [用法]正要做..這時候(發(fā)生某事).when為并列連詞,相當于and at that time

    [舉例]I was about to go out when my cousin came to see me.

    我正要出門,這時候我的堂弟來看我.

    [聯(lián)想]when做此用法的句型還有:be doing...when... 正在做什么這時候...

    [比較]except 除了(傳統(tǒng)語法認為,前后有相稱的同類語時用except,否則用except for.

    但置于句首時一般用except for
