if和whether區(qū)別

　　1、or not放在whether之后時(shí)，只能用whether不用if。

　　例句：

　　I don’t know whether or not he will come.

　　我不知道他是不是回來(lái)。

　　注：如果or not放在whether所引導(dǎo)的從句句尾，則可以用if來(lái)替換。

　　I don’t know whether/if he will come or not.

　　我不知道他是不是回來(lái)。

　　2、在強(qiáng)調(diào)任意選擇時(shí),用whether…or,此時(shí)不用if替換whether。

　　例句：

　　He asked me whether I wanted to go there by train or by bus.

　　他問(wèn)我是想乘火車還是坐公共汽車去那里。

　　注：whether和or一起還有“不管”之意,引導(dǎo)讓步狀語(yǔ)從句。

　　Whether he drives or takes the train, he will be here on time.

　　不管開(kāi)車來(lái)還是乘火車來(lái)，他都會(huì)準(zhǔn)時(shí)到。

　　3、雖引導(dǎo)賓語(yǔ)從句，但為了強(qiáng)調(diào)賓語(yǔ)部分，也可把從句放在句首，此時(shí)只用whether不用if。

　　例句：

　　Whether he will come I am not sure.

　　他是不是來(lái)我拿不準(zhǔn)。

　　4、從句作介詞賓語(yǔ)時(shí)只用whether不用if。

　　例句：

　　It depends on whether it will be fine.

　　那得看是不是晴天。

　　5、作discuss等動(dòng)詞的賓語(yǔ)時(shí)，用whether不用if。

　　例句：

　　We discussed whether we should close the shop.

　　我們討論是不是該關(guān)掉商店。

　　6、句子中有if引導(dǎo)的條件句，如再有表示“是否”的賓語(yǔ)從句，用whether不用if。

　　例句：

　　He asked me whether I’d move to New York if I got the job.

　　他問(wèn)我如果我得到那份工作是否會(huì)搬家到紐約。

　　7、容易產(chǎn)生歧義時(shí)用whether不用if來(lái)表示“是否”。

　　例句：

　　Please let me know if you need help.

　　如果你需要幫助請(qǐng)告訴我。

　　8、如果賓語(yǔ)從句為否定句時(shí)，則只用if不用whether。

　　例句：

　　I don’t know if it won't rain tomorrow..

　　我不知道明天是不是會(huì)下雨。
